Force Multiplier is all in for Georgia!

With the election of Biden and Harris, a Senate majority is still within reach. Georgia's Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock are both in runoffs on January 5, 2021. Winning these races would enable VP Harris to be the tie breaking vote in an evenly divided Senate. Winning the Senate would enable Biden to enact progressive policies, appoint judges, sign treaties, and so much more.

Raphael Warnock

Opponent: Kelly Loeffler (R)

Rev. Warnock came in first among 21 candidates in a special election on November 3, 2020 to fill a seat to which Kelly Loeffler was appointed.

Georgia has historically been a Republican state, but has been shifting blue in recent years. In 2018 Lucy McBath flipped Georgia’s 6th congressional district, and Democrat Stacy Abrams narrowly lost the 2018 gubernatorial election. Now, in 2020, Joe Biden has won the state, the first time a Democratic Presidential candidate has carried it since 1992.

Rev. Warnock has been senior pastor of the Ebenezer Baptist church in Atlanta since 2005. (Title and affiliation are provided for identification purposes only.) He grew up dirt poor in a Savannah housing project and struggled to pay for college, but eventually earned a PhD. His desire to enter politics has grown out of witnessing Georgia’s blatant voter suppression, which led him to become Chair of the New Georgia Project, which focuses on voter registration.

As Senator, Rev. Warnock places a high priority on the fight for quality, affordable health care, a living wage. He will prioritize climate justice, clean energy and clean water.

Jon Ossoff

Opponent: David Perdue (R)

An historically Republican state, Georgia has been shifting blue in recent years . In 2018 Lucy McBath flipped Georgia’s 6th congressional district and Stacy Abrams narrowly lost the 2018 gubernatorial election. And in 2020, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have won it.

Ossoff (a Georgia native) has been CEO of the media company Insight TWI since 2013. They have won numerous Emmy awards for their investigations of corruption, organized crime and war crimes. Jon ran for congress in the GA6th 2017 special election and narrowly lost, which set the stage for Lucy McBath’s 2018 victory. After college, he worked for Congressman Hank Lewis and was a close friend of John Lewis.

Candidate Ossoff will fight to strengthen the Affordable Care Act and provide a strong public option. He will defend Medicare and Social Security, and supports investments in infrastructure and clean energy to combat the climate crisis. He is committed to lowering taxes on working families and small businesses. He has vowed to defend Roe v. Wade. Given race and class disparities in policing, prosecution and sentencing, Jon will fight for criminal justice reform. Finally, he is committed to ending Citizens United.

The New Georgia Project (NGP)

was co-founded by Stacey Abrams in 2014 after the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act. NGP has since been leading efforts to register, educate and engage voters of color in Georgia in extraordinary numbers during the 2020 election season.

With a new voter registration deadline of December 7, 2020 work has already begun to get first-time voters registered and ready to vote in the January 5, 2021 Senate Runoff. NGP aims to register between 30,000-40,000 new voters who will be eligible to vote in this election.

NGP is primarily focused on registering and engaging voters from the New Georgia Majority—young voters, voters of color, and first-time voters in fourteen counties.

NGP is doing critical work to register, educate and turn out voters in the face of ongoing voter suppression, a pandemic, the holidays--and voter fatigue!

MVP.jpg

The Movement
Voter Project's Georgia Fund

MVP works to strengthen progressive power by supporting the best and most promising local community-based organizations, with a focus on youth and communities of color. MVP's local partners in Georgia are already pivoting to mount an unprecedented campaign to try to win two Senates seats this January. This  fund supports groups working to mobilize Black, Latinx, Asian/Pacific Islander, youth and working class communities.

The voter registration deadline is December 7th, so we have to act fast to make sure groups have all the money they need immediately.

100% of donations go to Georgia organizing partners that can engage in partisan political work. The size and frequency of grants for each group are regularly assessed by MVP’s grant-making team and state advisors based on where additional funding is most needed.

This fund is administered by Movement Voter PAC, a federal political committee..

At last revision, the fund supported the 13 groups listed here. MVP is constantly identifying and investing in new communities, and the groups that serve them. This list will evolve.  The goal is to activate as many voters as possible for the special election.

LInk to MVP groups

small dollars make a huge difference

Remember...every dollar of your donation goes directly to the candidate or organization of your choice.

Small-dollar donors are going to be the most important constituency on the Democratic side. They are your top supporters…the same folks who are marching, who are protesting, who are calling their representatives, who are going to tell their friends about your campaign, who will show up at your office and go canvassing.
