When holders of IRAs reach the age of 70 1/2 they are normally required to withdraw a specific amount each year, the annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). Ordinarily this amount is taxable. However, some or all of the annual RMD may be donated directly from the financial institution (the IRA custodian) to a non-profit charity designated as a 501(c)(3) as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), thus avoiding tax on this portion of the RMD. Holders may also be able to make additional QCDs up to a total of $100,000.
Force Multiplier's Movement Voter Fund is a 501(c)(3) eligible charity. Now is the time to direct a portion of your RMD to the fund. Although all 501(c)(3) charities are eligible for these donations, the Movement Voter Fund's grassroots work for voter empowerment is particularly crucial in turning out crucial disenfranchised voters for the 2020 election.
Please consult your IRA custodian, legal, or financial advisers; these instructions do not constitute legal or tax advice.
